The $8000 tax credit has been extended and expanded

First-time homebuyers are eligible for a tax credit up to $8000 and Long-time homeowners can get up to $6500 so long as a written binding contract to purchase is in effect on April 30, 2010, the buyer will have until July 1, 2010 to close.
